(It conducts over 3,000 performances annually in front of more than 3 million people.) We didn’t make reservations. (We “make” or “have” reservations.) She was at the laundromat. (The super high temperature is unbearable.) Many people had a heatstroke. (Heat exhaustion is a severe, treatable condition caused by excessive loss of water and salt. Heat stroke is a life-threatening medical emergency where the body's temperature-regulating system completely fails.) I asked my son to drive me to the welfare center. (I asked him to pick me up at 10 pm.) There were ten instructors besides the two of us. (“Beside” means “next to” and “besides” means "in addition to.”) It is very nutritious. (It is high in nutrition.) I’ve wanted to go there for a long time and last week I finally went there. (“Finally” means doing something that you've been putting off for a long time.) I signed up for a tour of the brewery. (A brewery is where beer is made.) There are many types of social media. (SMS, or short mail system, is called texting. (Social media is where people go online to socialize.) Cyber bullying is a big problem. (It has caused many suicides.) Cainz Home has a shopping cart escalator. (This is a conveyor belt that carries passengers and shopping carts to another floor.) Exercise is done for better health, practice focuses on improving a specific skill, and training uses a program to build capacity for a long-term goal. (I exercise by walking. I should practice my golf swing. I have no plans for training.) The red light was blinking so the manual said to unplug the TV and wait a minute or two then plug it back in. (To unplug meaning to remove the wire from the outlet and plug in means to put the wire’s prongs into the outlet.) I made a mistake. (We “make” mistakes.) I blacked out for a few seconds. (He passed out when he hit his head. He is ok – no brain damage.) |
