Phishing is an online scam where someone tries to get your personal information. (I got a phishing email that looked like an official email from my MUFG bank.) It usually takes 30 minutes to drive there. (They went there on the typhoon day, and it took only 15 minutes.) The freezer wasn’t working well. (They are having it repaired.) They have a three-story house, and the kitchen is on the second floor. (Outside of the house we say how many stories it has but inside the house we say what floor something is on.) The car wouldn’t start. (A stranger in the parking lot helped get the car started.) Some key fobs can start a car even if the battery is dead. (You can Google this and watch a YouTube video on how to do this.) He will have a skin graft. (He had surgery on his hand and the doctor took skin from his hip to replace the skin removed from the surgery.) My husband’s brother thinks so too. I decorated our family Buddhist altar for my mother’s “hatsubon.” (You can say just “family altar” but that would be for any religion.) The employees at the Hikawa International Fishing Area gutted the rainbow trout. (They removed everything from inside the fish.) I grilled most of the fish and pan-fried and deep fried a couple of them. (Pan-fried was most popular for the family.) There were 14 of us. What is the difference between “I don’t care,” “I don’t mind,” and “I don’t worry”? (“I don’t care” is very strong and can be rude sometimes. “I don’t mind” sounds much more polite. I don’t worry” also sounds more polite.) He took care of me. (Don’t say “for me.”) He said, “I feel sluggish.” He said that he felt sluggish. (It is best to not use quotation marks when speaking, unless the exact words are very important.) There were no spectators at the Tokyo Olympics. (Spectators watch something.) There were few people in the audience. (People in the audience listen to something.) The supermarket shelves for rice are empty. (There is a shortage of rice.) I was lazy every day last week. (I did nothing special last week.) Spoiled food has a bad smell and tastes bad. (Food poisoning has no smell and doesn’t taste bad.) It has a spiral staircase. (This is a circular stairway.) Phishing is when a scammer, a.k.a. con man, tries to get your personal information online. (Do not reply to any emails that ask for your personal info.) I don’t watch TV much, but I often listen to the radio. (I get my news from the internet.) “Kamala is brat” comes from a British music album title. (In this case, brat means a girl who is very honest, very blunt, a little bit volatile.) |
