I have been suffering from pollen allergies for many years. (Don’t say, “I have been suffered…)

We went there on foot. (“By foot" is less common and can sound formal or awkward, though still understood.)

He entered his first year of junior high school. (He entered the seventh grade.)

They put up scaffolding around my house last Saturday. (Scaffolding is a temporary structure used to support a work crew for painting houses, etc.)

She had bronchitis. (After a few days in the hospital, she was better.)

His white blood cells were high which is a sign of an infection. (He might have cancer of the pancreas.)

I threw up. (He vomited.)

I have been jinxed lately. (He has had a lot of bad luck recently.)

The Black Plague killed as many as 50 million people in Europe. (A plague is when a disease spreads and kills many people.)
