Last night was Max’s (Anacortes High School - ANA) first football game of the season. Before the game, the boys said that Anacortes would win easily. First, they said that ANA (not All Nippon Airways) would win by a score of 40 – 0. Later, Tyler said that he would bet that they would win the game by at least 30 points. I said, “Ok, let’s bet $5.” Tyler said, “Ok!” Well, the final score was Anacortes 35 and Oak Harbor (OAK) 7. Tyler needed two more points to win the bet.

It was a good game. ANA kicked off the ball to Oak. After four downs, ANA got the ball back. They quickly moved the ball downfield and scored the first touchdown. ANA again kicked the ball to OAK. They moved the ball quickly down the field and scored a touchdown. Tie score 7 – 7.

Oh no! OAK is better than we thought. We got possession of the ball and on the first play, ANA’s quarterback threw a 60-yard pass, and we scored another touchdown.  From then, the other team played well, but our defense was really good so they couldn’t score.

If you don’t understand American football, this might be a little confusing. If you have questions, please ask in class, I’d be happy to explain it.

When the game started at 7 pm, the sun was out. It was warm with no wind. By about 8:30 or so, the sun was setting, and it was getting a little cool. A little after 9, it was dark, cold and windy. I was freezing! Christina’s friend gave me a small blanket to keep warm. In the second photo below, if you have good eyesight, you can see an orange half-moon above the goal post. It was beautiful.

Tyler’s first game will be on Monday. Can’t wait!
