She does much of the work by herself - including stocking, ordering, and dispatching. Her childhood ambition was to become an elementary school teacher. However, her father said that having a pharmacist license will set her for life. After graduating, Kesa started working in a lab, but after she married, a friend recommended that she open a pharmacy. She has owned and operated her pharmacy for over 70 years. October 8 is Microwave Oven Day. Percy Spencer is the inventor of the modern microwave oven. He quit elementary school to get a job to support his family. He taught himself about electricity and then wireless communication. While working with radar, he noticed that a chocolate bar in his pocket melted. The first thing he cooked in the microwave was popcorn and the second thing was an egg, which exploded. The first microwave was sold in 1947 and was called the “RadaRange.” “Blow the whistle” means “to notify authorities of something illegal.” A company employee blew the whistle about not following safety procedures. “I wasn’t born yesterday” means “you can’t fool me.” Don’t tell me that your dog ate your homework, I wasn’t born yesterday. |
