My Notes November 2026 Week 2

The titan arum, a.k.a. the corpse flower, is the world’s smelliest flower.

It releases an extremely foul odor that can be smelled 0.8 km away.

The odor attracts insects that pollinate the flower.

The chemicals it releases smell like limburger cheese, rotting fish, sweaty socks, sweet floral scent and feces.

The odor is strongest at night when the insects are most active.

November 16 is National Button Day.

The original buttons came from the Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt and Indian region.

These buttons were usually made from seashells and used as clothing ornaments.

Functional buttons with buttonholes appeared first in Germany in the 13th century.

Collecting buttons became popular in the US during the 1930s.

“Take a nosedive” means “to rapidly decrease in value.”

The stock market took a nosedive recently.

“Take a trip” means “to go.”

I will take a trip to the US in December.
