My Notes November 2024 Week 1

Yassan has held the record for the largest GPS drawing since 2009.

When he decided it was time to propose to his girlfriend, Yassan wanted to do a big surprise.

This record-breaking drawing - entitled "MARRY ME" - was his first ever GPS drawing.

If he made the drawing only during his free time, it would take over two years, so he quit his job.

Smartphones were not available then, so he had to place tracing paper on top of a large road map.

When he finally finished it after six months, he showed it to his girlfriend ans she asked, "What does it say?"

The second full week in November is Split Pea Soup Week.

Greeks and Romans were cultivating split peas since around 500 BC.

During that era, vendors in the streets of Athens were selling hot pea soup.

Early sailors would eat peas with salt pork.

In the early nineteenth century, potatoes replaced peas as a staple food.

“To break new ground” means “to do something that hasn't been done before.”

The research center is breaking new ground on treatment for cancer.

“Break the news, or to break "it" to someone” means “to tell someone something important, usually bad news.”

I’m sorry to break the news to you, but the diamond you bought is fake.
