My Notes March 2026 Week 3

Robert Bezeau, a.k.a. the “Plastic King”, made the largest castle using plastic bottles.

He was living in Panama and spent his time with a local recycling center.

He was surprised to find that they collected over one million plastic bottles in 18 months.

He built a 14-meter-high four-story castle using around 40,000 plastic bottles.

Robert promotes “upcycling” PET plastic rather than “recycling”.

Recycling can cause plastic fibers to enter the ecosystem.

National Tater Day is observed each year on March 31.

Farming communities in Kentucky started celebrating the sweet potatoes harvest in 1843.

Sweet potatoes are native to present-day Ecuador.

The softer types of sweet potatoes are called yams in North America.

Sweet potatoes arrived in Satsuma Japan via China/Okinawa in the early 1600s.

In 1735, Shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune asked Aoki Konyō to study and cultivate sweet potatoes as a backup to rice during famine periods.

“To feel like a new man/woman” means “to feel refreshed.”

I felt like a new man after soaking in the hot tub.

“The new kid on the block” means “the newest person in a group.”

Tyler is the new kid on the block; he started working here last month.
