My Notes June 2025 Week 3

Nagaizumi Town, Shizuoka, is home to the world’s smallest park.

The area is just 0.24 square meter, which is equivalent to two sheets of A3 paper.

The park features an entrance, a small bench, and some grass.

In 1988, a Town Hall employee visited Portland, Oregon, and found the world’s smallest park.

Oregon’s park was 0.24 square meter, so the employee wanted to make an even smaller one.

June 22 is World Rainforest Day.

This day was established to encourage countries to protect and restore our rainforests.

Rainforests can absorb carbon dioxide, release oxygen, and stabilize climate patterns.

Rainforests cover around 6% of Earth’s surface, however they are home to around 50% of the world’s plant and animal species.

The Hoh rainforest in Washinton State has about 360 cm of rain annually.

Yakushima, located about 60 km south of Kyushu, gets about 1,000 cm of rain each year.

“To get one's mind off something” means “to stop thinking about something.”

Listening to oldies helps me get my mind off my problems.

“To get on someone's nerves” means “to irritate someone.”
He really gets on my nerves every time he opens his mouth.
