After her mother passed away, she spent a lot of time at her grandma’s house. She learned to crochet when she was just eight years old. While crocheting, her daughter gave her snacks and energy drinks through a straw. She said that she felt butterflies in her stomach and her hands were shaking from all of the excitement during the crocheting marathon. June 5 is National Gingerbread Day. Gingerbread refers to baked goods, typically flavored with ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon and sweetened with honey, sugar, or molasses. Gingerbread foods vary, ranging from a moist cake to crispy ginger snaps. Gingerbread was brought to Europe in the year 992 AD from Greece. Making a gingerbread house is a Christmastime tradition. “Get outta here” means “I don’t believe you” or “You are joking.” A: I just won the jumbo lottery! B: Get outta here! No way! “Keep your chin up” means “to be optimistic.” You had a bad day today, but keep your chin up, tomorrow is a new day. |
