I am writing a never ending story of memories of my life. So far, I have written about 12 pages. I will post only a paragraph or two each week. If you have any questions, you can ask me here, by email or in class. I hope that some of the stories will be interesting.

My Memories

Recently I have been telling many stories of my life to my friends. Some are interesting, but most are quite the opposite. I guess many of the stories are interesting to my Japanese friends is because our way of life and thinking are different.

I have no idea where to start. These memories will not be in chronological order.

I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. I grew up on Queen Anne Hill and attended St. Anne’s Elementary School (grades K – 8). I attended St. Edwards Seminary in Kenmore, Washington for one year and then graduated high school at Queen Anne High in 1966.

Queen Anne Hill is… well… hilly. I couldn’t walk anywhere without going up or down a hill. I loved sledding on the streets with my brothers and friends in the winter. It seemed that we had more snow back then. I remember that my father made two sleds, but we eventually bought a couple more. We would have contests to see who could slide the farthest. We would start at the top of the hill near my house, slide downhill one block then the next block was flat and then the following block was uphill. The farthest anyone could reach was halfway up the third block. Of course, we would wax the runners and have a long push start. I think the homemade sleds went the longest distance.

I attended St Anne's Elementary School from kindergarten to the eighth grade.

I want to ask first what cause writing of your story?

What is the "St" at the front school name?

Each school's picture beautiful.

I want to ask first what cause writing of your story? (I mainly started writing for my grandchildren to know about my life growing up. I told many of the stories that I will be adding here to my Japanese friends. They thought the stories were interesting so I decided to post them here. They may be boring to some readers, but I hope people will enjoy some of them.)

What is the "St" at the front school name? ("St." stands for "saint." St. Annes and St. Edwards were Catholic schools and Queen Anne High was a public school.)

Each school's picture beautiful. (Yes, they are. These building are very old. The high school was turned into a condominium.)
