Lessons March 2026 Week 3

Richard Cadbury of the UK created the first Valentine’s Day box of chocolates in the 1860s.

He was the first to sell chocolates in a heart shaped box.

For Valentine's Day, a dozen is the traditional choice, but a single rose represents love at first sight or "you are the one.”

The earliest Valentine’s Day card was sold on 12 January 1797 in London.

During the Victorian era (1837 – 1901) “Vinegar Valentines” were popular.

They were sent to people whom the sender absolutely detested such as liars, gossipers, or people who were unattractive.

March is Noodle Month.

The Chinese were first to make noodles about 4,000 years ago.

The Chinese language does not have a specific word for noodle.

There are many words based on the ingredients used and the recipes.

Marco Polo introduced noodles to Italy.

The word “pasta” comes from the Latin word meaning “mixture of flour and water”.

“To be in with someone” means “to be friends with someone.”

At high school, he was in with the wrong crowd, so he always got in trouble.
“In advance” means “before something happens.”

We must pay for the tour in advance.
