Salt Lake City, Utah, is home to the world’s first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant.

Harland Sanders began selling fried chicken from his roadside restaurant in Kentucky during the Great Depression.

He franchised his secret recipe to Pete Harman who owned restaurants in Salt Lake City.

Pete Harman called the chicken on his menu “Kentucky Fried Chicken” instead of Southern Fried Chicken.

Pete also came up with the slogan “It’s Finger Lickin’ Good!”.
August 5 is National Electric Traffic Light Day.

On August 5, 1914, the first electric red and green lights were used to control vehicle traffic.

policeman sat in a booth and changed the light manually.

In 1920, a Detroit policeman recommended adding the yellow light and automated the signals.

Traffic signals were first used in Japan in 1930.

“Have a ball” means “to have a great time.”

The party was great; we had a ball.

“Be my guest” means “to give someone permission to do something.”
