June 30, 2022

I’ve had a busy week. On Monday I played golf at Ome Golf Club with one friend. I hadn’t played in a very long time so I knew my score would not be good. To make things worse, it was scorching hot. After the first nine hole, I kind of felt like quitting, but after cooling down during our lunchtime, I decided to continue.

During the second nine holes, we would hear a lot of rolling thunder. It sounded so relaxing. There was a slight breeze which cooled us down a little. During the final two holes, there was a very slight rain which made us feel comfortable. As expected, my score was not so good, but I had one par, so I was very happy.

On Tuesday I played golf again with three friends at Tama Hills Golf Course. Again, it was very hot, but we had a slight cool breeze most of the time. It was hot, humid and sweaty, but the breeze made it bearable. On the front nine, I felt that I played rather well, but my score was 53. Since I have not played or practiced for so long, that score was not so bad, but I felt that I played better. On the back nine, I was playing better. I ended up with a score of 48 for a total of 101. My goal in recent years is to have a score below 100. This week’s goal was to just hit the ball straight and don’t worry about distance. I mostly reached that goal. I also had three pars and one birdie which made me very, very happy.

On Wednesday morning, I brought my car in for its two-year safety inspection (shaken). It was a little expensive, but they at least washed the car. : )

In the afternoon, I visited my foot doctor at Tokushukai in Akishima. I really like my doctor. While trimming the callus on my foot, he found a lot of pus. The infection is back! Oh no! The never-ending foot saga continues. He injected some pain killer into my foot and dug a little hole to remove dead skin. My Yokosuka doctor did the same thing but without the pain killer. Anyway… I will see the doc at Tokushukai next week again and will also be fitted for a special insole for my shoes. They are a little expensive, but if they help prevent problems with my foot, I will be happy.

I cut and raked five bags of weeds in my yard yesterday morning. I want to work in the yard today but should let my foot heal for a few days first. Maybe I can do tomorrow or Saturday.

Well, that’s about it for today. I hope next time I can have more happy news.

“Scorching hot” means “very hot.” To scorch something means to burn the surface.

“Rolling thunder” means “Claps of thunder last 0.2 to 2 seconds. Rolls or rumbles are less loud and continue for up to more than 30 seconds.” The “claps” in “claps of thunder” has the same meaning as “clap your hands.”

“Bearable” means “you can take it or endure it.”

Hi Bob

Did you played golf twice a week? Sounds Great. I'll play golf next Saturday with my friend.

Last month I had lunch with my Chinse friend every week. But it has finished last week.

I'll have next banquet on 6th August. I have to save money and alcohol so I feel lonely by next time but it is good for my health.

Anyway when will you have a party? If you invite me I'll drink so much alcohol at that time... It is my kidding.

Hi Bob

Did you played golf twice a week? Sounds Great. I'll play golf next Saturday with my friend. (Yes, I played two days in a row. It was very hot and took much of my energy, but I felt ok afterwards.)

Last month I had lunch with my Chinse friend every week. But it has finished last week.

I'll have next banquet on 6th August. I have to save money and alcohol so I feel lonely by next time but it is good for my health. (It is nice to get out with your friends.)

Anyway when will you have a party? If you invite me I'll drink so much alcohol at that time... It is my kidding. (I still haven’t decided when. This summer is so hot, I think that I will wait until I get back from visiting the States in September. It should be cooler by then.)
