February 23, 2022

I saw my doctor for a post-surgery checkup. (Post-surgery means after surgery. “Post” means “after” and “pre” means “before”.) He said that everything looks good. It is healing well. My next visit will be on Wednesday, March 9 to have the stitches removed. I can wear shoes and walk normally from then. I will visit my podiatrist again on March 16 for the final checkup. He also said that after another 4 – 6 weeks, he wants to see me for the final, final time to make sure that the problem is not coming back.

My community center schedule will not change. I will drive to my next appointments at Yokosuka, so Nick will teach on those days. The good news is that I will start teaching lessons in my house from March except Wednesday afternoon will start in April. I’m sorry about some class cancellations, but things should be back to normal very soon. Thank you for your patience.

I can’t remember when I last played golf. I am now looking forward to playing on my birthday at the end of March. :)

Hi Bob

How have you been after your surgery.

I bought Beijing Kaoya (北京ダック) and bring it to my parents last Saturday. Because they haven't eaten it.

It was very tasty and they pleased. A half of whole was 2800JPY. It's not very expensive. But it was a little fatty.

My Chinese friend recommended that shop. She said the boss of that restaurant can speak Japanese. So I called. But he can't understand Japanese completely. Although I could reserved at that time. On Saturday when I pick it up boss asked me "How should I cook it?" I don't know that service. I thought we eat only skin. But they cook meat and born and serve to customer.

At last the boss called the person who can speak Japanese. So I ordered them.

My last time playing golf was with you. Please let me know if you plan to play golf next time. Thanks.

And take care.

Hi Bob

How have you been after your surgery. (Getting better day by day. The stitches will be removed on March 9, then I should be back to normal.)

I bought Beijing Kaoya (北京ダック) and bring it to my parents last Saturday. Because they haven't (have never) eaten it.

It was very tasty and they (were) pleased.

(The first time I ate Peking Duck was in Yokohama China Town. I was on the Yokota base bowling team. We had a competition at Yokosuka Naval Base, so the team members’ wives joined us, and we stayed one night at the base hotel. We decided to go to China Town for dinner. When we got there, we walked the streets to find a good restaurant. I saw a dark and dungy looking place, but there was a long line of people waiting to get in. I figured that they must have good food. My friend’s wife chose a huge, bright restaurant with very big windows, a grand piano and huge chandelier. But there were only a few customers. I guessed that either the food wasn’t so good, or the price was very high. The price was rather high! None of us had ever eaten Peking Duck, so we ordered it to share. Finally, they rolled out a small table with the duck on it. It looked so delicious. The chef carefully cut off the skin and served it to us. He then left us without serving any of the meat. My friend and I looked at each other as the chef was leaving!?!?!?! Where’s the meat going? That is when I learned that traditionally only the skin is served. It was tasty though.)

My last time playing golf was with you. Please let me know if you plan to play golf next time. Thanks. (That was the last time that I played too. Now that my foot is almost back to normal, I’m hoping that I can play on my birthday. I have no lessons from March 27 to April 4.)

And take care.
