August 31, 2022

I’ve really noticed how much the kids have grown in the last three years. When I last visited here for Christmas 2019, I was their chauffeur (taxi driver, uber driver, etc.). Max has been driving for about a year now. He picks up his brother and sister if they need a ride. Tyler just turned 15 years old this month. You can get a driver’s permit at the age of 15 is you are enrolled in a driver’s ed course. (Driver ed = driver education = driver’s license school). If you are not taking driver’s ed courses, then you can’t get a driver’s permit until you are 15 years and six months old.  You cannot get a driver’s license until you are 16 years old. With a driver’s permit, you can drive a car as long as someone with a driver’s license and is at least 21 years old is with you. I took Tyler and his friend out to practice driving on the first night I was here. Tyler drove well, but his friend’s driving was a little scary.

Today is a quiet day. I washed, dried and folded two loads of laundry. Tyler had driver’s ed; Max is working as a lifeguard at the city swimming pool; and Marlo’s friend stayed overnight. They were up all night, so they didn’t get up till noon.

I’m looking forward to Max’s first football game of the season on this Friday. His high school football team has a good chance to play in the all-Washington State football championship.
