We spent 14 days driving around Shikoku. (My husband did most of the driving.)

We ate a lot of delicious food and gained two kilograms. (After coming home, I ate only vegetable soup and so far, lost one kg.)

The fish was slightly grilled and the meat under the skin was mostly raw. (You grill food over a flame. The food is placed on a grate, a.k.a. grill or on a mesh nest, a.k.a. wire rack for grilling.)

He was ashamed when he was caught cheating on a test.

I was embarrassed when I spilled a drink on the floor.

Some people are shy and can’t speak in front of many people. (Hazukashii (恥ずかしい) is a Japanese adjective that primarily means "embarrassed," "ashamed," or "shy".)

The number of young boys playing baseball is decreasing. (The cost of baseball equipment is getting very expensive.)

For the World Cup, standard tickets range from roughly ¥9,000 to ¥180,000.

The semifinals tickets range from ¥60,000 - ¥260,000.

The finals range from ¥130,000 to over ¥7,300,000. (These prices are ridiculously expensive.)

Using a silk pillowcase might help prevent frizzy hair while sleeping. (Static electricity can also cause frizzy hair.)

I had a blast. (She had a great time.)

We had a mini high school reunion. (Only seven or eight of her classmates got together.)

Thrombosis is also called a blood clot. (These clots can stop the flow of blood.)

The blood clot stopped her from hemorrhaging. (Hemorrhaging is a great loss of blood that can kill you, but the blood clot saved her life in this case.)

It was windy and there were dust devils on the dirt playground. (A dust devil is a type of whirlwind.)

The rain gutter was clogged with leaves. (The leaves prevented water from going down the downspout.)

She posted many photos on social media. (SNS stands for Social Networking Service but is usually just called social media including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok etc.) 

 They will replace my pacemaker. (They will remove the old one and put in a new one.)

I knew about the Tomoda Recreation Park, but I had never been there. (It is a rather large park with a ball field, tennis courts, gate ball field, picnic areas etc.)

Kabe Seiyu is being remodeled into a "TRIAL Seiyu" format, bringing in new smart shopping technologies like self-checkout systems etc. (Trial Holdings, a massive discount supermarket operator headquartered in Fukuoka, purchased Seiyu.)
