(I have three brothers and one sister.) Her story reminds me of another story. (When I listen to other peoples’ stories, I often remember similar stories about myself.) Someone put some vegetables on my front porch. (Speaking of porches, my porchlight burned out last night.) Some secrets for a long life are eating well, exercising, getting enough sleep, socializing, etc. (These are all important, but for elderly people, socializing is very important.) There are many centenarians in Okinawa. (There are several reasons that many Okinawans live to be over 100 years old and one of them is that many of them follow the 2,500-year-old motto "Hara hachi bu”, which reminds them to eat mindfully and stop eating when their stomachs are 80 percent full.) He spoke with his colleagues in English. (He talked with his coworker, mostly about their work.) Their conversations used mostly technical terms. (It was easy to talk about his job, but everyday conversations in English were a little difficult.) I asked him to critique my speech. (I asked him to check and see if I made any mistakes.) I didn’t recognize him without him wearing a mask. (They wear masks at work, and he wasn’t sure who was who at the party.) I have to buy some granulated sugar. (The white sugar that we use in coffee is called granulated sugar.) I dusted the chocolate cake with powdered sugar. (I lightly sprinkled the powdered sugar on the cake.) |
