(They embalm, apply makeup, hairstyling, etc. on the dead person’s body.) It was a three-day weekend. (Monday was a holiday so most people were off on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.) We have a peach blossom tree in our yard. (The tree has blossoms but no fruit.) She has osteoporosis. (This disease causes weak and brittle bones.) Obesity, or being excessively overweight, affect 40 percent of Americans. (Being overweight can cause serious health problems.) Heattech was jointly developed by UNIQLO and textile manufacturer Toray Industries. (Heattech is a type of thermal underwear.) I had much fun. (I had a very good time. Don’t say, “I have very fun.”) He visits an internal medicine doctor. (Internal medicine doctors, a.k.a. internists treat patients with conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and chronic lung disease.) He refused cancer treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy. (These treatments often have strong side effects, but I was lucky to have mostly only mild side effects.) He wanted a computer monitor arm. (This arm holds the monitor above the desk, so he has more space.) He bought a gaming computer with money from his part-time job. (It was expensive, but this teenager paid for it himself with money he earned.) A car hit him while he was in a crosswalk. (He was lucky that only his legs were injured and not his head.) Her daughter-in-law was absent because she caught cold. (Her son’s wife is her daughter-in-law.) Better batter is made with bitter butter. (This tongue twister shows the pronunciation difference between be, ba, bi and bu.) The bar has a nostalgic Japanese bar atmosphere. (He and his coworkers have been going there for about 40 years.) The Kisuge flower is called a Day Lily in English. (It is popular in different areas of Japan.) My high school classmates and I turned 70 this year so we had a class reunion. (My students threw me a huge karaoke party on my 70th.) She traveled around the world on her honeymoon. (They did not fly to any of the locations.) I had a mini pilgrimage. (He visited 10 shrines.) I went to Tachikawa to watch the movie “Tokyo Taxi.” (It is based on the French movie “Paris Taxi.”) She had a turbulent life. (She had a difficult life with many ups and downs.) |
