I went to a concert in Akishima. (There was a very large chorus and several professional soloists.) The singers were semi-pros. (They were amateurs who sang at the same level as professionals.) There were many schools of tropical fish. (She was snorkeling in Australia.) I picked up my prescription at the drug store. (The prescriptions are filled at the pharmacy.) I waved to her from my car. (His mother and her mother were sisters and they both passed away so now the cousins can share their mothers’ favorite plant.) The reservation receipt was on his cell phone. (He showed the receipt to enter the reserved area.) The cause of the fireworks mishap is under investigation. (One of the fireworks at the Ome Fireworks display didn’t explode in the air.) A dental surgeon removed a piece of bone from my gums. (Regular dentists do not perform oral surgery.) I prefer a paper dictionary to an electronic dictionary. (But electronic dictionaries are convenient when outside the house and sometimes the print in paper dictionaries is very small and hard to read.) He passed away in the early 1900s, but his house is still standing. (I forget his name, [Minakata Kumagusu?] but he is considered to be the smartest person in Japanese history.) |
