The pencil was made from a graphite and recycled polystyrene, which makes it bendable. The name "BIC" is derived from founder Marcel Bich's name. It was shortened from Bich to avoid English pronunciation issues. The smallest pencil is 5mm long and requires tweezers to hold and use. January 16 is Fig Newton Day. The cookie was invented in 1891 and was named after Newton, Massachusetts, where it was first made. Several biscuit companies merged in 1889 to form the National Biscuit Company, or Nabisco. Nabisco trademarked the “Newton” as the “Fig Newtons.” In the 1980s, the fillings included apple cinnamon, strawberry, raspberry, cherry and blueberry. Since 2012, "Fig" has been dropped from the product name and now just called "Newtons". “In stock” means “available for purchase.” We sold out of that item and there are none in stock. “In the air” means “everywhere.” Love is in the air during the Christmas season. |
