The phones had to be dropped from shoulder height, with the screen facing down. If a phone broke it would be taken out of the final count. All 264 phones survived the drop without being damaged. Several rehearsals took place prior to the official attempt using the same phone. February 23 is National Tootsie Roll Day. Leo Hirschfield invented the Tootsie Roll in 1907. This chocolate-flavored candy is similar to caramel and taffy. It was the first “penny candy” that was sold individually wrapped. He named the candy after his daughter Clara, whose nickname was "Tootsie.” A jingle for a Tootsie Roll commercial was, “Chewy, chewy Tootsie Rolls last a long time.” “A far cry” means “very different (often in a worse way).” California rice is good, but it is a far cry from Japanese rice. “To feel like a new person” means “to feel refreshed.” I felt like a new person after the sauna and massage. |
