I met with the radiologist today. He explained the procedures for the treatments and side effects during the treatments. As I mentioned before, I will get the radiation treatments daily Monday to Friday and chemical therapy once a week for six weeks. I won’t feel much different during the first three weeks. During the second three weeks it will be more difficult to eat etc. After all treatments are finished, they will monitor my kidney, liver, etc. to make sure everything is working well. If there are no problems at all, I could possibly go home within a week or two.

He said that the type of tumor I have is “easy” to treat. Both the radiologist and Dr. Ozawa believe I will have a full recovery.

Tomorrow I will see the hospital dentist and then have another CT scan in the radiology clinic. This CT scan will be used to make a mask. The mask has two purposes. One is that it will hold my head in place so I don’t move it during the treatment. The other reason is to show them where to do each treatment each time.

It takes time to make the mask so I will enter the hospital on Monday, June 12.

I will teach lessons until then.

I chatted with my daughter this morning. We are both very positive about all of this. We believe that being positive is most important. I hope that y’all can be positive too. Two or three months may seem like a long time, but being tumor-free and pain-free will be good.
