Lessons November 2025 Week 4

Larry Walters set the record for highest altitude reached by a chair attached to balloons.

Since he was a young child, he was fascinated with helium balloons.

He couldn’t get a pilot’s license because he had bad eyesight.

When he was 33 years old, he decided to attach 42 weather balloons to a lawn chair.

His plan was to go up about 90 meters but traveled up at 244 meters-per-minute.

“Lawnchair” Larry shot up 4,876 meters before returning to the ground.

He used a BB-gun to puncture the balloons but dropped the gun after shooting a few of them.

November 17 is National Butter Day.

People have been making butter since around 2500 BCE.

The name “butter” comes from Greek and Latin words translated to “cow cheese.”

It is usually made from cow's milk, but it is also made from sheep, goat, buffalo, and yak milk.

French butter has a higher fat content, so their food is richer, and breads are flakier.

“To hit the road” means “to leave.”

We’ll hit the road at 6 a.m.
“To hit the sack” means “to go to bed.”

I’m really beat, I think I’ll hit the sack.

She is churning butter in a butter churn.
