Lessons January 2024 Week 3

Laurie Koller owned 726 mermaid-related items as of 15 October 2015.

She believes that she has over 1,500 items now but doesn’t want to set a new record.

Her grandmother’s two vintage mermaid wall plaques made her interested in them.

Over 37 years, she has collected rugs, figurines, clothing, teapots, bookends, and more.

It is believed that mermaids came from Greek mythology sirens dating back to 1600 BCE.

Sirens were half women and half bird and their high-pitched singing lured sailors to their death.

January 10 is National Houseplant Day.

Many houseplants get neglected throughout the holiday season.

This is a good time to give them some TLC.

Houseplants release moisture into the air and convert carbon dioxide into oxygen.

Houseplants can create a more relaxing and soothing environment.

“It’s been a minute” means “it has been a while.”

It’s been a minute since we had lunch together.

“On the back burner” means “to delay until later.”

I put golfing on the back burner while I recovered from the medical treatment.
